Bugs bite from school on 24th Apr '15

Missy came home with multiple bug bites all over her face and eye area after school on Friday and we have no idea how did she get it as we have checked with the teacher and apparently she is the only unfortunate one.

It seems harmless as she doesn't complain of any pain or itch but it does causes her self confidence level to shaken as Missy wanted to give her favourite ballet class a miss. Grandma managed to convince Missy to still go ahead with the class despite the bites showing so prominently on her face .

Armed with the knowledge on Nutritional Immunology, I looked at this as a form of allergy that flared up from the bites from some unknown bugs so I gave her a pellet of Orchestra to take in the evening.

The allergy reaction had come down by 3rd day without any medication!
Our immune systems is truly our body's best doctor. By nourishing our immune systems with the right nutrients, our body will be able to do the cleansing process more effectively on its own.

Sher recover from Fever & Food Poisoning within a day

Sher looked tired and pale after school dismissed on 9-Apr'15 and it was the first time she ever commented that she wants to go home immediately. Usually she would want to spend some time at the playground before heading back home.

After 2 spoons of porridge, Sher had no appetite and shortly after she throw out everything and seems lethargic. Went in for a short nap and wakes up with a fever of 38.8deg and as she has abdominal pain, nausea and weak. Poor Missy just kept crying as she doesn't know how to express her discomfort only to point to her tummy and says pain.

So I gave her a pack of Millennium and Orchestra at 2.30pm. I went to check on her temperature and it seems to come down slightly and Missy throw out again about 4pm. Her fever had come down to normal within 2hrs.

It was till then Sher was able to have a good nap till evening time and that was a really good recuperating period for her for she was back to her lively and jovial self after she woke up.

That was the amazing functions of our immune systems that by nourishing them well with the correct nutrients, we can recover very fast.

3 simple steps to read food labels the right way

How can we be a smart consumer? Start by learning how to read the food labels in 3 simple ways.

1. Look for the manufacturer and distributor if they are of the same company.

Choosing a product that is manufactured and distributed by the same company ensures the accountability of the company; steers in the direction towards safe and quality products.

Example: A product is manufactured by ABC company and distributed by DEF company; if you have any query or issues, which company do we look for?

2. Look out for the ingredients

The importance of choosing the right nutrients can nourish and step up our immune system. Hence it is crucial to ensure that the ingredients listed are wholesome over synthetic / man-made vitamins & minerals. The sequential of the ingredients listed also indicates the proportion of the ingredients that goes into the making.

How do we know what's wholesome and what is not?
Let's look at a simple analogy

Which part of the car do you think is the most important? Is it the engine, tyre or steering wheel?
In fact, every part of the car is very important. We cannot simply drive the car with just a steering wheel or an engine.

So let's apply the analogy back to the example.

The top label with wholesome ingredients which is naturally rich in folate and other nutrients; like broccoli, asparagus, carrot which is considered as a whole car.

The bottom label with synthetic supplements like Vitamin C with Ascorbic Acid which is in its supplemental form. Do you even consider them as a whole car?

So which label would you choose?

3. Barcode

Barcode is the identity of the product which bears their manufacturing details and stringent tests that it has gone through.

So now you know how to read the labels the right way in 3 easy steps, let's be a wiser consumer from today and start to look for wholesome food to nourish your body with the right nutrients.

Testimony on Sore Throat

Sher's teacher was sick and had to take a day rest and having learnt that she had lost her voice, my heart totally goes out to Sher's teacher. Having to lose your voice and not able to talk is really depressing and especially when you are in the teaching profession. I could totally relate to this as I, myself had lost my voice twice in 6months and even with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications etc, there's no way my voice could ever be back almost instantly.

Hence, having know how through nourishing the body with the correct nutrients could help in speedy recovery, I suggested to get her to try Orchestra as it is excellent in anti-viral & she was open to give it a shot.

The following morning, Sher's teacher was so thankful to me that she shared with me after drinking the Orchestra, there was a soothing sensation in her throat and almost as immediately, her voice was back as normal again. All the children in the class were in awe and screamed, shouting that her voice is back!!

This is really amazing and it really makes my day :)

Missy's birthday was on Valentine's day so we decided to celebrate her birthday in school on a friday.
I have totally forgotten that I still need to prepare her snack box too! So immediately after dropping Sher in school, I rushed home and see what I could prepare for her before her snack time while also trying to touch up piping the last rim of her birthday cake. The cake was baked with the help of her Godma the night before, and yes, its a strawberry shortcake.

Oh yes, back to her snack box, as you have already know, Sher loves strawberries to the infinity and beyond so naturally it has to be in the main cast of her snack box since its also her birthday celebration. And at the same time, I decided to gave her something new to try (in case not many of you know, Sher is a picky eater / fussy eater, so her fear factor food meter is really limited)
